Overview
This 9-days Bush And Beach safari combines Kenya's Lake Nakuru National Park, a treat for birdwatchers and a rhino sanctuary with the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve. Get the best of both worlds on this adventurous road and air safari.
Your tip begins with a 3-hour drive northwest of Kenya's capital, Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lake Nakuru is bird- and animal watchers’ haven. The Park has over 400 bird species. These include, herons, pelicans, storks and the conic African fish eagle. Lake Nakuru is also home to a vast number of mammals (56 species) including a healthy population of the highly endangered rhino. The Park has four of the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino) except the Elephant. Expect to see tree-climbing Lion, Cheetahs, Python, Hyenas, Jackal, Rothschilds giraffes, zebra, hippo, impala, waterbuck, and plenty of baboons and monkeys.
After a night in Lake Nakuru we get back on the road and make our way to our next game viewing destination in Kenya, the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. We spend 3 nights in the Mara on morning and afternoon game drives in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife. The Maasai Mara is home to the Masai giraffe, Baboons, Warthogs, Bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted Hyena, Topi, Impala, Hartebeests, Wildebeest, Elephants, Buffalos, Zebra, Hippo, Cheetah. The ultimate action here is without a doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration. In August and September millions of these grazers move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October.
Balloon trips are an entirely wonderful way seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost.
After your game-viewing adventure in Masai Mara, we fly to Mombasa and spend the next four days enjoying the sunshine and the warm Indian Ocean at a beach resort near Mombasa, on the coast of East Africa. Mombasa is the second biggest city in Kenya and boasts the largest port on the East African coastline.
